In 1993, McDuffie co-founded Milestone Media, a comic book company focused on introducing minority heroes into the superhero genre. Milestone's characters, like Static Shock, Icon, and Hardware, broke new ground in representing African Americans and other minorities in comics.

Television and Animation (2001-2011) 

McDuffie transitioned to television and animation, contributing significantly to several animated series, including "Static Shock" and "Justice League Unlimited." His work in animation continued to push for diversity and complex storytelling.
